The Middle East is a region where car is king and fuel is low-cost, typically leaving little reward to find more environmentally-friendly ways of around.

But this year, as protests throughout the Middle East have pushed up the rate of oil, the issue of finding alternative sources of fuel has actually entered sharp focus.

In a region that has one of the greatest carbon footprints worldwide, one company is taking advantage of the growing pressure to find alternatives to oil. It's set up the Middle East's first plan to recycle cooking oil into biodiesel. It's proving lucrative too, already their client-list includes McDonald's.
